Here is the second instalment of Overlook Hotel, a series of interconnected, self-contained choreographic installations exploring the relationship between body, image and memory. After redrum, winner of the 2024 Ubu Prize for Best Dance Performance, the project delves into the perception of time as an elusive entity. goldroom evokes the haunted ballroom of the Overlook Hotel in The Shining, where light, sound and vision converge to create an ever-shifting space before the viewers’ eyes. The choreography, meanwhile, explores the randomness of memory: fragments come together and fall apart, and images come and go, returning as bits of memory. Time crumbles: what is happening now feels as though it has happened before. Viewers are left to witness the transformation of a room that keeps changing.
