Who could forget the unsettling “redrum” inscription (‘murder’ spelled backwards) from The Shining? Here, in homage to both Stephen King’s novel and Stanley Kubrick’s film adaptation, a non-existent but familiar place is evoked, unleashing a disturbing fantasy populated by ghosts and memories where the boundary between reality, dream and desire is dissolved. This choreographic installation redefines the traditional theatre experience: the performance becomes a place to be inhabited, the boundaries between stage and audience disappear, common perception is altered, and the spectator is invited to explore a world where the distinction between true and false evaporates, allowing an object to be assembled before one’s eyes in a unique and possibly unrepeatable way. In redrum, everything happens, has always happened and will happen again.
