Here they are: five top-class equally-minded jazz musicians, a “philosophical crooner” like Peppe Servillo to lend them his voice, and Javier Girotto to provide skilful and sophisticated arrangements. They offer their passion for cross-generation Italian music from Modugno to Celentano, with a necessary tribute to Lucio Battisti, an intimate and personal singer-songwriter whose unforgettable songs are most popular among Italians. The programme includes twenty jazz versions of songs ranging from Il mio canto libero to E penso a te in a challenging proposal of Battisti’s music and bold lyrics, signed by lyricist Mogol first and by poet Panella after the artist’s enigmatic “intellectual” turn.
