Vivaldi’s “Four Seasons” revisited for oboe, trumpet, cello, percussions and orchestra by Aziza Sadikova
Italian premiere
Uzbek-German composer Aziza Sadikova has completely reimagined Vivaldi’s Four Seasons, which, indeed, still have much to say! Entrusted to Kent Nagano, a conductor well versed in contemporary compositional techniques, this Italian premiere proposes a reworking in which certain fragments are expanded in terms of both sound and time, which allows new colours and horizons to emerge. Against this backdrop, the “Pastoral” offers a different kind of dialogue between music and nature. By loosening the rules of traditional symphonic form, Beethoven created a musical narrative in which Man and landscape breathe together, in harmony with the inner rhythm of those who, surrounded by nature, recognise themselves as part of the same miracle. How not to think of St Francis’s devotion to the wonders of creation?
