The Alinde Quintet is a group of five talented Czech musicians who have quickly earned some of the most prestigious international awards thanks to their exploration of historical music. They draw inspiration from Czech composers who wrote specifically for wind ensembles, such as Antonín Rejcha. An eminent teacher in the early 19th century, Rejcha grew up in Bonn at the same time as Beethoven and later taught in Paris, where his pupils included Liszt and Berlioz. Another source of inspiration for the Alinde Quintet is Pavel Haas, who studied with Janáček in his native Brno and later became known for his tragic fate as a composer in the Terezín concentration camp. The Alinde Quintet performs these pieces with enthusiasm and energy, alongside works by Dvořák and Grieg that have been adapted for wind instruments.
