music Domenico Bartolucci

The Sunday liturgies, hosted as usual in the splendid basilicas in the ancient heart of the city, propose some of the authors who have enlightened the history of European faith and devotion. Among them are two of the most supreme expressions of the XV-century Franco-Flemish school, Guillaume Dufay and Johannes Ockeghem, alongside Claudio Monteverdi, who left an indelible mark in music history as a crucial transitional figure between the Renaissance and the Baroque periods. A more ordinary but not less precious example of the widespread compositional wisdom that nourished the Italian musical chapels in the XVII century is Aurelio Signoretti, who was the chapel master at the Reggio Emilia Cathedral. And then a contemporary author, with a dutiful homage to Domenico Bartolucci in the 5th anniversary of his death.
