Fresh from a long international tour that started in the US, Matteo Mancuso has emerged as one of the most accomplished contemporary guitar virtuosos, a celebrity and a pioneer on the global guitar scene. So much so that his recent album Route 96, which blends jazz, fusion and experimentation, has sparked the enthusiasm of artists such as Steve Vai and Al Di Meola, who have described him as “an absolute talent”.
Joining him on the double bill is Nik West, a musician who has restored funk to its original “corporeal” dimension. Her powerful phrasing, sense of rhythm blending modernity and tribalism, and captivating stage presence make her the new star of global black music, capable of transforming any venue into the most feverish dancehall one can imagine.
