{"id":35834,"date":"2025-03-08T11:00:22","date_gmt":"2025-03-08T10:00:22","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ravennafestival.org\/?p=35834"},"modified":"2025-09-29T14:23:23","modified_gmt":"2025-09-29T12:23:23","slug":"trilogia-d-autunno-2025","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ravennafestival.org\/en\/trilogia-d-autunno-2025\/","title":{"rendered":"Autumn Trilogy 2025: L&#8217;invisibil fa vedere Amore"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The dialogue between the <strong>Pier Luigi Pizzi<\/strong>&#8216;s direction and <strong>Accademia Bizantina<\/strong> and <strong>Ottavio Dantone<\/strong> for the Autumn Trilogy is renewed: if in 2024 they tackled Monteverdi and Purcell, this year H\u00e4ndel takes centre stage with two new productions of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ravennafestival.org\/en\/events\/orlando\/\"><strong>Orlando<\/strong><\/a> (12, 14 November) and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ravennafestival.org\/en\/events\/alcina\/\"><strong>Alcina<\/strong><\/a> (13, 15 November), to which is added the performance of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ravennafestival.org\/en\/events\/messiah-2025\/\"><strong>Messiah<\/strong><\/a> (Sunday 16), with Dantone conducting Accademia Bizantina\u00a0and the <strong>Coro della Cattedrale di Siena \u201cGuido Chigi Saracini\u201d<\/strong> prepared by <strong>Lorenzo Donati<\/strong>. With this triptych entitled <em>L&#8217;invisibil fa vedere Amore<\/em>, the Alighieri Theatre continues its journey of discovery and rediscovery of the opera repertoire of the 17th and early 18th centuries &#8211; the so-called \u2018baroque\u2019 &#8211; with excellent performers and important directors.<\/p>\n<p>Part of that operatic tradition that found inspiration in the characters of chivalric cycles and includes titles by Vivaldi and Lully, <em>Orlando<\/em> (1733) and <em>Alcina<\/em> (1735) revolve around characters from <em>Orlando furioso<\/em>, a masterpiece of Renaissance epic and a strikingly modern text. In Ariosto&#8217;s poem, the famous paladin of the Carolingian cycle loses his mind when his love for the princess Angelica is unrequited. The ambiguity between power and fragility is also repeated in the character of the sorceress Alcina, a deceitful seductress who, like Circe in the <em>Odyssey<\/em>, can transform men into animals or plants.
