{"id":19140,"date":"2020-06-05T11:00:08","date_gmt":"2020-06-05T09:00:08","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.ravennafestival.org\/?p=19140"},"modified":"2020-07-14T10:11:38","modified_gmt":"2020-07-14T08:11:38","slug":"ravenna-festival-2020-il-nuovo-programma","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ravennafestival.org\/en\/ravenna-festival-2020-il-nuovo-programma\/","title":{"rendered":"Ravenna Festival 2020: the new programme"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: #000080;\"><strong>RAVENNA FESTIVAL 2020: THE NEW PROGRAMME WITH OVER 40 EVENTS<br \/>\n<\/strong><strong>From 21 June to 30 July in the Rocca Brancaleone, in Cervia and in Lugo with concerts, theatre, and dance<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>The Italy of music not only restarts but\u00a0<em>continues<\/em> with Ravenna Festival: over 40 events between 21 June and 30 July, a new programme featuring concerts, theatre, and dance; the main venue is the Rocca Brancaleone, but the Festival takes place also in Cervia and Lugo, both close to Ravenna. As the regulations against the Covid-19 outbreak were closing theatres and concert halls everywhere in Italy, it seemed impossibile to imagine this 31st edition; for this very reason it now shines brighter (and in compliance with the safety measures for artists, staff, and audience). While Riccardo Muti leads the Luigi Cherubini Youth Orchestra and soprano Rosa Feola in the opening concert on June 21, and will be again on the podium for two additional concerts, guest artists include Accademia Bizantina, Beatrice Rana, Mario Brunello, Valery Gergiev, Iv\u00e1n Fischer, Anna Prohaska, Sergio Castellitto, Isabella Ferrari, Neri Marcor\u00e8, Vinicio Capossela, Giovanni Sollima, Stefano Bollani. Besides, the Festival is planning for the digital broadcasting of the events.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.ravennafestival.org\/en\/events\/?qy=2020\"><span style=\"color: #000080;\"><strong>&gt; Discover all the events in details<\/strong><\/span><\/a><br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.ravennafestival.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/06\/Programma-ITA-2020-1.pdf\"><span style=\"color: #000080;\"><strong>&gt; Leaf through the complete programme (PDF)<\/strong><\/span><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The Festival re-imagined the 2020 edition, turning the Rocca Brancaleone into the heart of the programme: this 15-th century fortress, on 1 July 1990, hosted the first edition&#8217;s opening concert led by <strong>Riccardo Muti<\/strong>; this year the Festival restarts from the Rocca, with a concert featuring also Mozart&#8217;s luminous Symphony no. 41 &#8220;Jupiter&#8221;. The Cherubini Orchestra is led by Muti also in the <strong>concert of Friendship<\/strong>, to be performed also in Paestum, and for the concert with Wiener cellist\u00a0<strong>Tam<\/strong><strong>\u00e1<\/strong><strong>s Varga;<\/strong>\u00a0and also by\u00a0<strong>Valery Gergiev<\/strong>\u00a0for a tribute to Beethoven including the Pastoral and the Piano Concerto no. 3 with <strong>Beatrice Rana<\/strong>. The symphonic section is completed by\u00a0<strong>Iv<\/strong><strong>\u00e1<\/strong><strong>n Fischer<\/strong>, the\u00a0<strong>Budapest Festival Orchestrab,<\/strong> and soprano <strong>Anna Prohaska<\/strong>, performing\u00a0Wagner, Britten, and Haydn.<\/p>\n<p>Two brand new productions, designed during the lockdown, premi\u00e8re at the Festival. On the one hand\u00a0<em><strong>Duets and Solos<\/strong><\/em> joins dance and music, bringing together great soloists, <strong>Mario Brunello<\/strong>\u00a0and Beatrice Rana, and \u00e9toiles; ranging from pas de deux with real life couples (Silvia Azzoni and Alexandre Ryabko from the Hamburg Ballet, Iana Salenko and Marian Walter from the Staatsballett Berlin) and solos with Hugo Marchand (Op\u00e9ra de Paris), Sergio Bernal (former Spanish National Ballet), Matteo Miccini (Stuttgart Ballet). <strong>Sergio Castellitto<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0<strong>Isabella Ferrari<\/strong>\u00a0bring to the stage <em><strong>Ci sono giorni che non accadono mai<\/strong><\/em>, a play by Valerio Cappelli on passion and its demons\u00a0in the time of Covid-19, on music by Ennio Morricone never previously performed.<\/p>\n<p>While\u00a0<strong>Accademia Bizantina<\/strong> presents H\u00e4ndel&#8217;s\u00a0<em>Il Trionfo del tempo e del disinganno<\/em>, countertenor\u00a0<strong>Carlo Vistoli<\/strong> joins the ensemble\u00a0<strong>Sezione Aurea <\/strong>in a programme on loves in 17th-century Venice. The route throughout the pre-Bach repertoire includes <em>The Plague in Hamburg<\/em>\u00a0by the ensemble\u00a0<strong>Il suonar parlante<\/strong>, led by Vittorio Ghielmi, and Michele Pasotti&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>La fonte musica<\/strong> stars in the only concert filmed, without an audience, in the Basilica of San Vitale. <strong>Accademia d\u2019Arcadia<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0<strong>La Pifarescha<\/strong> dedicate their concerts, respectively, to paintress Artemisia Gentileschi and to the Battle of Lepanto.<\/p>\n<p>Two concerts celebrate the cello, featuring\u00a0<strong>Giovanni Sollima<\/strong>, l\u2019<strong>Orchestra Notturna Clandestina<\/strong>, and\u00a0<strong>Enrico Melozzi<\/strong>; ensemble\u00a0<strong>Ludus Gravis<\/strong> explores the full potential of the double bass, while the piano is centre stage in the recitals of\u00a0<strong>Nikolay Khozyainov<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0<strong>Filippo Gorini<\/strong>. Again Beethoven for Scala konzertmeister\u00a0<strong>Francesco Manara<\/strong>\u00a0and pianist\u00a0<strong>Cesare Pezzi<\/strong>; the\u00a0<strong>Quartetto No\u00fbs<\/strong> puts the composer of Bonn and \u0160ostakovi\u010d side by side. Double marriage between music and cinema with Charlie Chaplin&#8217;s\u00a0<em><strong>City Lights<\/strong><\/em> and the Orchestra Corelli led by Timothy Brock, and\u00a0<em><strong>Requiem for a Dying Planet<\/strong><\/em>\u00a0showcasing Ernst Reijseger&#8217;s score for Werner Herzog&#8217;s documentary films. <strong>Neri Marcor\u00e8<\/strong> delves into the Italian singer-songwriters&#8217; repertoire, while <strong>Danilo Rea<\/strong>\u00a0dedicates his concert to Mina, <strong>Sarah Jane Morris<\/strong> to the Beatles, and\u00a0<strong>Vinicio Capossela<\/strong> brings to stage\u00a0<em>Pandemonium<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>The theatre section also features Romagna-based companies: <strong>Teatro delle Albe<\/strong> with\u00a0<em>Rumore di acque<\/em> in the occasion of the play&#8217;s 10th anniversary, <strong>Fanny &amp; Alexander <\/strong>with Andrea Argentieri as Primo Levi in\u00a0<em>I sommersi e i salvati<\/em>, Menoventi with\u00a0<em>Buona permanenza al mondo<\/em> based on Serena Vitale&#8217;s book on Majakovskij.<\/p>\n<p>In\u00a0<span style=\"color: #008000;\"><strong>Cervia<\/strong><\/span>, in the arena set up near the Stadio dei Pini, the talks of\u00a0<em><strong>Per l\u2019alto sale &#8211; Il Trebbo in musica 2.0 <\/strong><\/em>combine tributes to the &#8220;heroes&#8221; of the Romagna region &#8211; poet Tonino Guerra, gastronomer Pellegrino Artusi, and film director Federico Fellini &#8211; to the themes of our age and to music; among the guests Massimo Gramellini, Melania Mazzucco, Paolo Rumiz, Gad Lerner, Ivano Marescotti, Ilaria Capua, Stefano Boeri. The Festival also returns to the\u00a0<span style=\"color: #008000;\"><strong>Pavaglione of Lugo<\/strong><\/span> with singer-songwriter and story-teller\u00a0<strong>Brunori Sas<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Stefano Bollani<\/strong> with his\u00a0<em>Piano Variations on Jesus Christ Superstar<\/em>, the multimedia show\u00a0<em><strong>DNA<\/strong><\/em> by Deproducers with Telmo Pievani, and the tribute to Luis Bacalov featuring\u00a0<strong>Maria Grazia Cucinotta<\/strong>\u00a0and New Trolls&#8217;\u00a0<strong>Vittorio De Scalzi<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><span style=\"color: #800000;\"><strong>TICKETS INFO<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>For any inquiry, you can contact the Ticket Office either by e-mail<\/strong><strong> (<a href=\"mailto:tickets@ravennafestival.org\">tickets@ravennafestival.org<\/a>) or by phone (+39 0544 249244) from Monday to Saturday, from 10 to 14, and on Sunday from 10 to 13.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Tickets can be purchased:<br \/>\n&#8211; from the official website <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ravennafestival.org\">www.ravennafestival.org<\/a><br \/>\n&#8211; by phone, contacting the Ticket Office of the Alighieri Theatre<\/strong> (ph. +39 0544 249244, mon-sat 10-14, sun 10-13)<br \/>\n<strong>&#8211; in person from the Ticket Office of the Alighieri Theatre<\/strong> (but access will be granted only on appointment, advanced booking by phone +39 333 2009711, mon-sat 9-14).<\/p>\n<p><strong>It is possible to purchase maximum 2 tickets per person per event, for up to three different event (up to a total number of 6 tickets)<\/strong>, in order to guarantee the best availability of tickets for the greatest number of people, in consideration of the reduction in the number of seats due to the social distancing rules (300 seats in the Rocca Brancaleone, 300 in Cervia, and 500 in Lugo).<br \/>\n<strong>Those who have bought any ticket before the sales were suspended and before the announcement of the new programme <\/strong>must contact the Ticket Office for the refund through voucher, in compliace with the decree March 17, 2020, (art. 88). The voucher lasts 18 months and can be used to purchase tickets of\u00a0Ravenna Festival 2020, Ravenna Festival 2021, Opera and Dance winter season 2020\/21 of the Alighieri Theatre.
