December 31st, 2019<\/strong>, is the application deadline for the auditions, for the 2020-2023 period, of the Luigi Cherubini Youth Orchestra for the following instruments: oboe, clarinet, trombone, bass tuba, and viola. Applications must be sent by registered mail to the Orchestra’s headquarters, as follows: Fondazione Orchestra Giovanile Luigi Cherubini, Via G. Verdi no. 41, 29121 Piacenza, Italy.<\/p>\n

Eligible applicants must: be between the age of 18 (born before December 31st, 2001) and 27 (born after December 31st, 1991); hold a diploma by an Italian State Conservatory or officially recognised private School of Music, or an equivalent foreign certification; be citizens of the EU.<\/p>\n

Auditions will be held in two non-consecutive phases (preliminary and final) in Piacenza (Municipal Theatre) and Ravenna (Alighieri Theatre), tentatively starting in March 2020.<\/p>\n

Founded by Riccardo Muti in 2004\u00a0as a privileged link between the academic and the professional worlds, the Luigi Cherubini Youth Orchestra set up its residence in Piacenza, and elected the Ravenna Festival as its summer home, where every year it renews the intense experience of the Festival. The young instrumentalists of the Cherubini Youth Orchestra are all under 30, and were selected through audition by a committee of top musicians from prestigious European orchestras, headed by Riccardo Muti himself. Dynamism and continuous renewal are a distinctive feature of the Orchestra, and it is in this perspective that members are only appointed for a period of three years, after which they may start collaboration with a major professional orchestra. Through the years, the Orchestra has alternated concerts in several Italian cities to important tours in Europe and around the world, and \u2013 besides an intense activity under its founder\u2019s baton \u2013 it has several remarkable collaborations to its name.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
