The brand-new autumn leg of Ravenna Festival builds on its more than decennial experience in opera production, a sort of “lab” where the possibilities offered by modern technologies and by the youth—the most innovative and vital of all resources—were tried and tested. The Autumn Trilogy will launch both a new ambitious project and a challenge, with the awareness that all future developments of every form of musical theatre will have to disclose new horizons while facing an increasing demand for cost containment and nimble staging. A new and ingenious modular staging system will let us rapidly create three different stage designs. This will permit the creation of three titles every year; the operas, based on a common theme, will be alternatively scheduled on consecutive days. This year, with the bicentenary of Verdi’s birth fast approaching, the Autumn Trilogy will stage the so-called “popular trilogy”, directed by Cristina Mazzavillani Muti: Rigoletto, Il Trovatore and La Traviata will be staged daily from Nov 9th to 18th.
