Monday 20 December, at 20.30, Verdi’s Nabucco at the Alighieri Theatre
Pre-sales open on Saturday 27 November, at 10 am CET

Ravenna Festival is back on stage with a special performance: on Monday 20 December, at 8.30 p.m., Riccardo Muti and his Orchestra Giovanile Luigi Cherubini will return to the Alighieri Theatre for a concert performance of Nabucco. At the beginning of December Verdi’s opera will be at the centre of the study and rehearsal path of the 7th edition of the Riccardo Muti Italian Opera Academy, for the first time organised in collaboration with the Prada Foundation in Milan, from 4 to 15 December. The Cherubini Orchestra and Muti, soon in Ravenna for three days of rehearsals (28-30 November) in the new auditorium of San Romualdo, greet the public of the city and its Festival with a wish of great music, while waiting for the announcement of the Festival’s 2022 programme in the first months of the year. Pre-sales for the concert will open on Saturday 27 November, at 10 a.m., at the Ticket Office of the Alighieri Theatre (also by phone +39 0544 249244), online on ravennafestival.org, and through the usual sales channels (IAT Tourist Info Points and Cassa di Ravenna Spa branches).

No composer is as deeply identified with Italian music and culture as Verdi; no one has been more committed to keeping his great legacy alive than Riccardo Muti. And there is no more famous chorus in all of Verdi’s writing, and not only, than the Va, pensiero, sull’ali dorate which has always transcended the context of opera to become the song of all peoples, a hymn for humanity. The concert on 20 December thus becomes a real gift and a good auspice in anticipation of the new year. Alongside the Cherubini Orchestra will be the Cremona Antiqua Choir prepared by Antonio Greco, and a vocal cast that includes Serban Vasile as Nabucco, Anastasia Bartoli and Francesca Di Sauro as Abigaille and Fenena respectively, Azer Zada (Ismaele), Riccardo Zanellato (Zaccaria), Giacomo Leone (Abdallo), Vittoria Magnarello (Anna) and Andrea Vittorio De Campo (Il Gran Sacerdote di Belo).

There are two price ranges for this concert: 55 euros for stalls and boxes up to the third tier, 25 euros for the gallery, fourth tier boxes and the gallery. For the occasion, there are special rates for the under-18s (5 Euros) and the under-30 University students (25 and 15 Euros); for the holders of Festival’s season tickets and carnets, and for the over-65s the rate is reduced (50 and 22 Euros).
