MUTI AND POLLINI, HAMBURG BALLETT, BEN HARPER
Saturday, December 22, opening of the pre-sales for three events of Ravenna Festival 2019

An exclusive meeting between two giants of music, 14 years after the last concert together; the only (and double) event in Italy for a company that has made the history of dance; the first destination of the Italian tour of an artist able to charm crowds all around the world: this Christmas, Ravenna Festival gives the audience a preview of three events, with the opening concert featuring Riccardo Muti and Maurizio Pollini (June 5, Pala De André), the Hamburg Ballett John Neumeier (July 5 and 6, Alighieri Theatre) and Ben Harper & The Innocent Criminals (July 9, Pala De André). The pre-sale starts at 10 am, on Saturday, December 22; on January 26 the full programme of the 30th edition will be announced.

Few days to the end of the year and it’s already time to start dreaming the 2019: Ravenna Festival reveals three events of its next edition, for a small – and yet huge – preview of a programme that, as usual, will embrace the whole city and not only that, travelling between different genres. But, while we wait for the programme of the 30th edition – which will be available at the end of January – there are already reasons to celebrate. Starting with the opening concert, for which Riccardo Muti will lead his Luigi Cherubini Youth Orchestra with Maurizio Pollini at the piano – a unique chance to see the two maestros on the same stage (last time it was at La Scala in 2004). The Hamburg Ballett has chosen Ravenna as its only Italian destination and will present three choreographies signed by its artistic director and tutelary deity John Neumeier, who will celebrate his 80th birthday in 2019: Beethoven Fragments, Birthday Dances on music by Leonard Bernstein, and Rückert-Lieder on music by Gustav Mahler. Ben Harper, one of most prominent and influential authors and performers in the world thanks to his ability to transcend genres and themes, will open his Italian tour in Ravenna.
