Music and words intertwine, alternate, merge into one another: the first impulse comes from Oriana Fallaci’s A Man, the fictionalised biography of her great love, Alekos Panagulis, a hero of the Greek resistance against Papadopoulos, jailed and brutally tortured, whose poignant poems, written in blood on scraps of paper unnoticed by his careless jailers, are the second source for this work. The reflections of Elena Bucci’s melologue originate from this story and flow on Luigi Ceccarelli’s score, where the pulsing of percussions, the sounds of a clarinet and pre-recorded voices are electronically re-worked to counterpoint the actress’s spoken word. A political theatre meant to preserve memory and infuse new meaning to the polis.
