Prima ballerina Svetlana Zakharova is back, mesmerising Ravenna with her haughty beauty and elegant stage persona in a new programme of choreographic gems. At the height of her career and maturity as a performer, the étoile of the Bolshoi and La Scala interprets the lesson of Terpsichore in all its different shades: from the Dying Swan, the hyper-classic solo choreography Fokine created for Pavlova in 1905, to Revelation, a dance “haiku” created for her by Motoko Hirayama, the first Japanese choreographer working for Bolshoi. In the limelight with her is a group of first-rate artists, including the Bolshoi principal dancers Denis Rodkin and Mikhail Lobukhin, the Mariinsky soloists, and some guest stars from other prestigious companies.
